What Steps are Necessary to Qualify For a Summary Dissolution of Marriage in California?


1) Must be no minor children involved in the marriage.
2) The duration of marriage must be less that five years.
3) Both individuals have no property together.
4) Both individuals must not have more than $5,000 in debt. This debt would not include cars.
5) Property owned jointly must not exceed $33,000.
6) Both parties must agree on how to distribute any shared assets.
7) One individual needs to have lived in California for a minimum of six months and also have lived in the county that the filing is taking place for a least three months prior to the filing.

When a summary of dissolution of marriage in California is filled there is a six-month waiting period involved. This process is fairly simple all that is needed is that both individuals file the paperwork with the court. The waiting period is beneficial to ensure that both parties are certain that they truly do want to process with the dissolution of marriage.
